Image compressor & converter

Compress and convert images to WebP, AVIF, JPEG or PNG right in your browser. Resize, tune quality, compare sizes — nothing is uploaded.

About this image compressor

Shrink and convert images entirely in your browser — your files never leave your device. Drop a PNG, JPEG, WebP or AVIF, choose an output format, tune the quality and download a smaller file. The heavy lifting runs on the same WebAssembly codecs that power Squoosh, executed in a background thread so the page stays responsive.

WebP and AVIF: why convert

Modern formats compress dramatically better than legacy JPEG/PNG at the same visual quality:

  • WebP — typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG; supported by every current browser. A safe default for the web.
  • AVIF — often 50%+ smaller again, with great quality at low bitrates. Best for hero images where size matters most.

Smaller images mean faster pages and better Core Web Vitals (LCP).

How to use it

  1. Drop or pick an image.
  2. Choose the output format (WebP/AVIF/JPEG/PNG) and quality.
  3. Optionally cap the width to downscale large photos.
  4. Compare the before/after size and download.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. All decoding, resizing and encoding happen locally in your browser via WebAssembly — nothing is sent to a server.

Which quality should I pick?

70–80 is a good balance for WebP/AVIF photos; go higher for graphics with text or sharp edges.
